Round 3 action planning is currently underway. These are strategic noise maps and are being used by agglomeration working groups, transport and the airports to develop appropriate action plans to help manage environmental noise. These actions plans will be subject to public consultation in the first half of 2018 and final action plans will be published, and submitted to the European Commission by end 2018.

Guidance for stakeholders on determining whether or not an identified Candidate Noise Management Area (CNMA) should progress to Noise Management Area (NMA) status or whether the declaration of a NMA would not be appropriate in the circumstances has now been published.

Guidance on Noise Action Planning

This guidance, designed to help in the implementation of Stage Two, sets out the proposed mechanisms and arrangements, including the formation of core and working groups, to prepare and draw up Action Plans. This document is provided to inform the public, give guidance to competent authorities, and provide a framework for all organisations involved in the Action Planning process.
